The topic of laws, statutes, and legislations gets majority of people serious and stiff. Look closely and you will realize that not all laws are serious as you may have originally perceived. There are millions of laws in existence and are being enforced by governments from across the globe. Whilst some are very complicated to understand, there are also those that are considered odd, archaic, and even downright dumb. Take a look at these weird, but absolutely ridiculous world laws. You may have so much fun and laughs reading them, but don’t forget that some of these are still enforced and should be followed to a T.

  • In a town in Colombia, it is legal and permitted for the mother of the bride to witness her daughter’s first sexual encounter with the husband. Although this may be considered taboo and grounds for indecent exposure and lewd behavior to the rest of the world, this is totally a norm in this South American nation.

 

  • Although conceived as an uncontrollable phenomenon, it is deemed to be a breach of law to reincarnate without permission in China.

 

  • If you think you can do anything in the country of Netherlands, think again! Although it is acceptable to smoke Cannabis in public venues and streets, their laws prohibit smoking of tobacco cigarette instead.

 

  • Until 2002, Brazilian men were given up to ten days to annul their marriage if they found out that their respective wives weren’t virgins before their wedding.

 

  • In Samoa, it is punishable by law for men to forget the birthday of their wives.
